Description:
News that Stranraer has ceased to be a ferry port after 150 years from 20th November 2011 , after the withdrawal of Stena Line to a new deep water linkspan at Cairnryan. The introduction of two new leased 'Superfast' vessels on the North Channel route to Belfast , the 30 year old Stena Caledonia (ex-St.David) with two sister ships are now surplus to requirement. Stena Caledonia has now been renamed 'Portlink' after being purchased by Indonesian concerns and she sailed from British waters for the long voyage to Jakarta in early July 2012. Good luck to her in her new ventures.
Former name(s):
- Stena Caledonia (Until 2012 Jun)
- St.david (Until 1991 Feb)
