"Sandile" is mayby built in 1967 as "Nembo" by Soc Esercizio Cantierie SpA of Viareggio for Frescogel SpA of Cagliari. This ship was one of serveral ships built units to a standard design developed by the yard, and were delivered for operatoin off the west of Africa. A stern trawler of 850 gross tons, the Nembo is 63,5m long overall with a moulded breadth of 10,4m. And a depth of 7,05m. She had a accomendation for a crew of 40.
The main winch is a Hydraulik type 2A8U unit with foue barrels and was manufactured in Italy by San Giorgio.
The main engine is a Deutz SBV6M 385 diesel developing 1500hp at 285rpm and coupled direct to a lips c.p. propeller to give a speed of 13.5 knots.
