Description:

Not technically a fishing vessel. She is a Class VII Merchant Vessel that carries out fisheries and oceanographic research in the North sea, Atlantic and Irish Sea. Owned by the Scottish ministers and operated by the Marine Lab in aberdeen. Technical and crew management is vested in Marrs of Hull. Photo taken at Aberdeen in Nov 2005. LOA = 68.6M Beam = 15 M Disel Electric propulsion. Built in Port Glasgow 1997. Designers Skipteknisk of Norway.

Altho completed in 1997 she didn't enter service until the middle of 1998 due to teething trouble with machinery / gear / etc. Very high for her length and breadth and I wouldn't like to go to sea in her if her stabalising U tank pumps fail. She rolls bad enough with them working lol I know i've been on her 7 times for 21 day research trips.
