Delivered by William Gray in 1951 as Seawall to Matapan Shipping, a British flag subsidiary of Lykiardopulo & Company, this series from Grey were the archetypal British tramps of the post war period. A sister ship, Merchant Duke, delivered to another Lykiardopulo subsidiary, Drake Shipping, also in 1951, was the very last tramp steamer under the British flag when finally sold 'foreign' in 1971. Seawall became Ramillies in 1955 and was the last ship owned by Cardiff shipowner John Cory & Sons, otherwise known as the British Steam Shipping Company, who had been shipowners since 1854, when she was sold to Pakistan National Shipping Corporation in 1966. Renamed Surma she was bombed and sunk at Chalna by Indian aircraft on 12 December 1971.
