Hi Theo, there's a well known politician over here in Germany, Hans-Otto Bräutigam. Best known I think as "Leiter der Ständigen Vertretung der Bundesrepublik Deutschland in der DDR" (don't know what's that in English) between 1982 and 1989, and Germany's ambassador to the United Nations in 1989/90.

Ok, I don't think he's got anything to do with Harry Brautigam, but at least here in Germany it's not that unusual as a surname...
