On 19 of May-2005 Naval factory of Marín made the launching of the "Irmans Garcia de Nodal", a support ship ordered by the Xunta of Galicia that along with the "Sebastian de Ocampo", will comprise of the device of the new Galician coastguard service.
The ship is designed for the following preferred functions: services of rescue to the ships of the Galician fishing fleet or of other ships that are in waters of the coast of Galicia; rescue of people; it fights against the contamination by hydrocarbons; control, inspection and fishing monitoring; scientific research; formation of fishing titleholders nautical; and training of inspectors and observers of fishing. In addition, it has average the suitable ones to be able to carry out the extinction of possible fires in other ships, as well as the tow of damaged ships. BASIC CHARACTERISTICSES
