Description:
Veteran Royal Navy Type 42 Destroyer HMS Liverpool hit the water for the first time on 25th September 1980 from Cammell Laird on the Mersey and subsequently accepted into the Royal Navy in April 1982 and after 30 years service , she is about to go into final retirement at the end of March 2012. In typical Royal Navy humour , she was unofficially nicknamed the 'Crazy Red Chicken' after the City of Liverpool emblem , the Liver Bird. I have put Bowling as the nearest mentioned port from the list , as it is just across the River Clyde from Erskine.
