It is still allowed but there is also an option to do a simulated launch which is either incorporated in a set of instructions provided by the boat builders or the vessels management and approved by Class. Reqd 6 monthly in addition to normal Solas or Flag required drills.

I looked up SOLAS, not clearly said if still allowed, but a flag state could restrict it anyhow. anyone has more infos on that ?
