My mistake. Take out 17-28 March.1969. This should relate to the dates she was at anchor in Port Phillip Bay Melbourne in Chis Howells other picture of her.

I just received the voyage cards for Donegals voyages from maiden voyage to being renamed Strathirvine. If this is Avonmouth she was there 8-15th Oct 1959, 4-15 July 1965, 26 June-14 July 1966, 17-28th March 1969 and 3-14th May 1974.Hopefully this might help if taken at Avonmouth.

First time on site and great to see shot of one of my old ships.Agree with Dave re flags.Had the Avenue flag and the Australind flag (hunry goose). Also after 1972 the P&O flag was flown when they took over management.Did great trip East Africa on her. Were regulars out to Oz but in later years traded mainly to Gulf and India. Regards Dave

Thankyou all for your comments

DONEGAL may have been photographed at Avonmouth but I cannot place the berth

According to flag etiquette, courtesy flags should be flown from the starboard crosstree. The flag flying from the port crosstree in this photo is - I agree with Dave - the Avenue/Trinder Anderson house-flag

Ty Malcolm, awesome shot mate, I will pass that on to Alfie, an ol shipmate from the Donegal. He is after another, the Port Halifax but I have some of her, ty Malcolm.

Hello Malcolm,
I think this is probably a UK port and that what appears to be a Swedish courtesy ensign is actually the Australind house-flag, which Avenue ships flew at the foremast, recognising management by Trinder, Anderson.
Regards,
Dave Edge.
