Description:
This little ferry was originaly a steam ferry called LA VERENDRYE builded in 1914 in Lauzon and used in Trois Rivières. She was later equipped with diesel engine and was used as a coaster equipped with two cargo masts. In the late fifthies (1958/1959, she was try as a winter ferry between Ile aux Coudres and Saint Joseph de la Rive in order to replace the wooden ferry MONT LAURIER. As the experience proved to be succesfull, she was purchased by the Compagnie de navigation Cartier Lte and LA MARJOLAINE became the official ferry for more then a decade. On this picture, she still has her forward cargo boom which was completly removed in 1960.
