Might I also add that a vast treasure trove of historical photos of these and other classic Italian ships is available on the Italian ship enthusiast's site, "Navi e Armatori":

http://www.naviearmatori.net/

The site is all in Italian, and you have to create a (free) account even to see the photo galleries, but it's certainly worth the trouble!

Mr Goossens's site is also correct in noting that Africa and Europa weren't quite sister ships to Victoria and Asia — I guess one can say they were two pairs of half-sisters!

The latter two sisters (built for the Far East service) were a tad larger than Africa and Europa, and though their design was very similar there were plenty of distinguishing features to tell them apart. The interior layout, too, differed between the two sets of twins.

For anyone interested Reuben Goossens has written a review of this vessel and included some photos of her interior decor.

Seldom has the term "yacht-like" been more appropriate for a liner, both inside and out.

Brings back wonderful memories of my childhood, thanks.
