It shows the x-bow "racing" a conventional bow in the northsea. Ulstein got the inspiration from the vikingships. Dont fight the sea, but glide through it. Save energy and maintain speed in rough weather.

Whilst a lover of "traditional" ships (Whatever that means!) I too like this style, it looks a practical & common sense concept. I imagine, they handle rough seas quite well.
Like the "Thunderbirds" analogy, Chris! Very apt!
