Northern S.S. Company's Tainui at Lyttelton with Currie Line's Roland in the background. Built for Swedish owners as Vestria in 1945 she sailed New Zealand waters as Tainui from 1949 until 1965.

1945 built as VESTRIA for O.M. Thore, Johnstrop, Sweden.
1949 sold to Northern Steam Ship Company of NZ.
1963 sold to Mr Suh Lee Kom of the Mayfair Rubber Com. of Singapore.
1962 December sold to Moh Yin Quek (Panamanian).
1963 July sold to Chagres Co. Panama Soc. Anon.,
1965 renamed DRAGON DORADO.
1970 sold to Eastern Shg. and Trading Co. (Pte.) Ltd. and renamed ARES (Singapore).
