Excerpt from Press Release from developer Lend Lease :
A ship to save the roads. Sydney's CBD and Port Kembla will be spared 35,000 truck movements, with the use of the CSL Pacific ship to take excavated material from Barangaroo by sea.
Lend Lease have commissioned the CSL Pacific to transport the material to Port Kembla for use in land reclamation at Port Kembla's outer harbour development.
Removing the material by sea takes up to 35,000 trucks off the road, from the Sydney CBD and Port Kembla.
The use of the material at Port Kembla is also an excellent sustainability outcome, which reduces the amount of material that would normally be sent to landfill sites.
The hours of work approved by the NSW Department of Planning for loading the ship are:
> 6am to midnight, Monday to Saturday ... > 9am to 7pm on Sundays.
