My Father worked for Stephenson Clarke for about 31 years (1951 to 1982).I was also MN and to my amazement I came across Storrington in Santos,Brazil sometime in the 70's.Went aboard to find only the Skipper. He advised that he had navigated the Atlantic on an atlas and asked me if I could let him have charts for the River Plate which is where he was going next!!!Most of his usual crew had got off in Cardiff after finding out ship was off to South America. He had a pool crew onboard that were all enjoying a run ashore! With no fridge he had a couple of beers in cold water in his sink.Happy days.............

A nice, nostalgic image Michael.
Quite appropriate that you have posted this vessel, as her once owners, Stephenson Clarke, have gone into liquidation:
Just a few days ago, on 26th July 2012 the world's oldest shipping company, Stephenson Clarke, established in 1730 declared insolvency on July 26 2012.
On 3rd August liquidators Tait Walker were appointed to deal with the winding up of the company.

I also note that that the large Italian bulk carrier firm Deiulemar Shipping is also facing bankruptcy, with half it's fleet having been seized by prosecutors.
Regards, Rick
