Description:

One of two surviving fully operational Liberty ships preserved in the United States, the SS JOHN W BROWN is the product of an emergency shipbuilding program of World War II that resulted in the construction of more than 2,700 Liberty ships.

This restored Liberty ship is seen here on 10 JUL 2009 during a visit to the Nauticus Museum on the Elizabeth River in Norfolk, Virginia.
