Hi Andy,

Thank you for your informative information of your time under Capt Harper, as you say she was an interesting ship and gave good service.

But sadly she was broken up at Alang 25-3-1994

Kind regards
Ken

I sailed in this ship in 1974 as a quartermaster, under Captain Harper, the only true professional seaman onboard. We laid a cable from Cagliari to Civvitivecchia and left about 20 dross DHU's scattered between Plymouth and Gibraltar. Later he asked me to join him on a trip to San Diego but I didn't and she got a dusting in a hurricane on the trip. Last seen in a James Bond movie. She was the oldest triple expansion steam vessel on Lloyds register. I hope they haven't scrapped her, she was a leaky old lovely ship and it was a hilarious adventure, but boy was it rough and tough! Never Again! Andy Shaw
