When I saw this vessel’s photo I thought I recognised her. Then I saw that she was formerly the Despina H. My memory which recalls everything from years ago but is unsure of what I had for breakfast this morning, took me to the May 1979 issue of Sea Breezes magazine where there was a photo of her and an article regarding her loss.

She sank 900 miles SE of Bermuda on the 23rd February 1979 after drifting with leaking hatches. All crew were taken off by the vessels Pelagos, a Greek bulk carrier and the motor ship Santiago Express. She had been on voyage from Cuba to Syria.

So impressive.....like a such shall never be again. What a pity!!
