I was on board the HANNOVER for 2 voyages, to US westcoast and Philippines via Cape of Good Hope because the Suez Channel was closed in 1968

The main purpose of a Stuelcken derrick is to serve 2 long hatches, as you can see on the Hannover.
On this vessel you have a normal size at hatch 5 but a very long hatch 3 and 4, so the Stuelcken could serve this hatch together with the 2 cranes as tandem for special long cargo, I think that's why the derrick is so close to the superstructure.
