I was Carpenter in the Anatolian Jan 1957 to May 1958.
There was 3 sister ships, Castilian, Lancasstrian, Almerian.
Nice ships to sail in, my last voyage to sea was in the Almerian. Feb 1960. Thanks for the Pictures, Cheers Bill Wood

What can I say?

Juergen, Jens, Sub, Thanks so much. The people who frequent this web site never cease to amaze me, so many not only really know what they are talking about but are always ready to help out. Brilliant, thanks again.

David, in this photo she is not CITY at all! Pictured is Ellerman Lines ANATOLIAN IMO 5402605. Thanks to Jens' fantastic work with flags I came to the complete call sign GTVF.
ANATOLIAN changed names more frequently than today container ships! Built in 1955 she sailed as ANATOLIAN until 1963 when was renamed CITY OF DURHAM but only for a year. In period 1964 to 1966 she sailed as ANATOLIAN. During 1966 she was chartered and sailed as ASCANIA. Renamed again ASCANIA in 1968 and sold to Greeks same year.

Hi Juergen
Many thanks for putting so much effort into identifying this ship. The name on the bow is completely unreadable to me but it does appear to have about the right number of characters in it to be the City of Leeds.
Regards,

David
