Thanks Phil ,I will post another pic which shows also the TOMBARRA in dock with the HR LIVINGSTONE and the EMMA SOPHIE .The difference in size is very evident.

Often we see photos of small coasters and tugs alongside much larger ships, but rarely do photos convey such a stark contrast in size between large vessels, as this shot does. Good stuff!

Yet at the same time the large vessel ,the HR LIVINGSTONE she is herself dwarfed by the oil rig moored aft of them.

As you can see from the pic, they are both riding high, both empty, were the EMMA was ballasted lower in the water, the picture would have been more dramatic.

Yes Emmanuel, but a DWT 26,411 tons bulker is considered as a "handy size bulker"; in any case it is not being a "little" ship; being fairly "large" especially when you stand on the quay alongside her and look at her from that position ..... that's story no.1 !
But compared to the approx. 5,000 TEU container ship seen left on the photo ..... that's another story (no.2)!!

: one time, I would hopefully like to see Emma Sophie moored by a 16,000 TEU container ship ..... what "wonder" would I see then (that would probably be story no.3) !!!

Hi Jadran the length of the EMMA SOPHIE is 168 m compared to 294m of the other ship, just short of double the length.

Yes Jens, the other ship is the HR LIVINGSTONE Imo.9292149 of 54271grt. with a length of 294m. whilst the EMMA SOPHIE is 16041grt, quite a difference in tonnage.

Is it possible that a DWT 26,411 tons bulker looks so small when aside of a "modest" container ship !??

Nice one, Emmanuel. She almost looks dwarfish alongside the other ship (a container ship, I suppose). Having a first quick look at the thumbnail I thought she was a bunkering tanker...:-)
