I personally pick up this boat in Aruba, then named the tug fontein. Beyel brothers purchased it via auction from the valero refinery. It is now the Daniel p beyel working out of Canaveral fl and I do believe it is docked in Ft piece fl at the moment.

Thanks!! I checked her pics out...ughh she is ugly now!!! We used to work her in Port Canaveral for a couple of months before Aruba, pushing oil barges to a power plant. I may go to Port Canaveral soon and see her and see if they will let me on board.

Thanks Steve.
Still documented, now working as DANIEL P BEYEL, out of Port Canaveral FL and owned by Beyel Brothers Inc of Cocoa FL.
One thing I can say is that picture is not in Tampa Bay, it is in Aruba, we had taken her out of the shipyard doing modifications to her gunwales, a rainbow rail for the tow cable, larger tow winch drum, which is in the picture, along with the front had winches removed...that was never like that in Tampa Bay...I worked her in Tampa Bay for almost two years before we went to the Caribbean.

She was my baby, I never had a full time relief Engineer, so when I would return to work I had a ton of maintenance to do, but overall a very good design, very sea worthy and never temperamental.

Yes I do know her Official Number...0623157...I have no idea what became of her, but I know the Captain I worked with may know...I'll contact him and find out...thanks for the interest in her. The original name of the tug was the M/V Mr. Fred and Coastal bought it laid up in a bayou after it was repossessed by the bank in Louisiana in 1988 or 1989, it was stuck in the mud...they bought the sister tug the M/V Coastal Pensacola too, she worked in Miami and was identical to the Fort Myers, but didn't have a tow winch like the Fort Myers, just a hawseline boat.

I wonder what became of her?
Reported "retired" in 2006. Do you know her USCG official number?

Built in 1980 in Houma, LA at Terrebonne Shipbuilders. (2) 16V92 Detroit Diesel main engines, Twin Disc 527 gears, (2) 3-71 Detroit Diesel generator 30kw sets and a 3-71 Detroit Diesel for tow winch. I was engineer on her for 5 years from 1992 to 1997, traveled Gulf of Mexico, Tampa, Miami, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Venezuela and Aruba when I was on her...tough little boat, 65' length and 25' wide, 18000 gallons of fuel.
