Nevertheless, Mr Jones, compared to the apparent pristine condition of the bridge and accommodation in the other photos, this engine does not look as it has been so well "loved".
Yet, it seems, the vessel sailed to the scrapyard under its own power so the engine obviously still worked!
I suspect that much of the engine will be dismantled and resold as spares - if not, indeed, the whole engine. There are many ads on the internet for second-hand engines being sold by scrappers.

For a 37 (38?) year old ship.... well I've seen a lot worse a few decades younger! Lovely insight into this ship Bendt.

Hi Arjan and samson, thanks for the information, and yes the engine could well have endured to become washed :-) but otherwise it sounded good.

Thank you to both of you for the comments.
Best Regards
Bendt

MaK (Maschinenbau Kiel) type 9M453AK four-stroke diesel with nine cylinders developing 2207 kW (3000 PS) at 600 revs/min The machinery space does not look as well-kept as the wheelhouse and accommodation.
