VILA VELEBITA DVA was originally built under the name KALI in 1956 as a small passenger ship.
For the company Jadrolinija, Rijeka the ship Kali entered service in 1958.
In 1973 Jadrolinija donated the "poor state" looking Kali to the Nautical school in Bakar where the professors and pupils completely refurbished the ship to become the training ship of the Nautical school.
