Description:

Port of Copenhagen as seen from the south in altitude 5000 feet/1524 meters en route from Roenne/Bornholm to Airbase Aalborg:

Upper left side you can see the DFDS Oslo Ferry terminal. Right of the DFDS ferry the long pier called “Langelinie”, usually used by cruise ships; one cruise ship is present at the pier.

To the right you can se an old warship, at frigate (museum ship) named “HDMS Peder Skram”. Right of the frigate, the Naval Officer School, based on the Naval Base area, called "Holmen".

In the middle of the harbour in front of the frigate you can see a white ship anchored. That is the Queens Royal Yacht “HDMY Dannebrog”. http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1828893

Left of “HDMY Dannbrog” you can see some big white buildings at the harbour front. It’s the headquarter of the A. P. Moeller/Maersk shipping group.

Further down the pier you can see a big motor yacht. It’s the yacht named SKAT, IMO 1007287. http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1879544 SKAT (honey, darling, sweethart etc in English) is a frequent visitor to Copenhagen, because her owner, Charles Simonyi, US-Hungarian computer millionaire and 2 x Private Cosmonaut does have a special business career - and private relationship to Denmark. As a very young man, he came to Denmark from Hungaria (at that time behind the Iron curtain) to the company Regnecentralen, before he went to Microsoft in the US.

Now I will finish my harbour guidance - just telling you, that the big rectangular building on the other side of the harbour, opposite to the yacht SKAT, is the new opera. The opera was a gift to the Danish people from Mr. Maersk Mc-Kinny Moeller, the Danish shipping magnate.

Cheers

Allan
