Description:

SAUDI CROWN, built at Landskrona in 1962, ex-KARIBA-79 (D.A.L.) ex-LENA CHRISTINA BRODIN-65, which was broken up in China, arriving at Qinying in November 1984 for that purpose.

it was a surprise when I returned from a trip to Lagos to find SAUDI CROWN anchored off Gladstone Lock, Liverpool, on the Saturday morning of 25th September 1982.

It was subsequently reported in Lloyd's List that she had loaded her cargo of AFS for Garston but was too big or deep to enter that port. I presume that, as competitors' facilities at Liverpool and Birkenhead were not an alternative, she finally discharged in the little used (and soon to be closed and filled in) Bromborough Dock.
