Description:

Spirit of Tasmania II departs Devonport, Tasmania.

Nikon D700 @ 1/20", ISO 3200. Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VRII @ f/3.5 and 185mm

LOCATION
Aikenhead Point offers a good view of outbound vessels with anytime after midday being the best for lighting. In summer the lighting is superb for inbound ships such as the Spirit of Tasmania ferries. This location is also great for getting rough weather shots.

Accessibility: This location is wheelchair access friendly and has toilet facilities just off the carpark. Any incoming shots may require being on the rocks in front of the Neptune statue. Please take care as this location is exposed to the elements. The rocks are lose and in bad weather breaking waves create quite a bit of spay.

Hey Cody, just saw you question now, 6 months later :P That pic in my profile is taken in Germany when she was Peter Pan, not my pic BTW.

Thanks for pointing that out Mitchell! I'll fix that now. Just wondering, is that picture of SpoT on your profile taken from East Devonport? :)

I'm amazed with the ISO handling. I had braced myself / the camera in the corner section of the fence trying to be as still as possible. :)

Great noise control at 3200 ISO. Still...1/20 at 185mm is risky business :)

Thank you very much, Clyde and Per! I think I was pushing the camera and VR to its limit last night.
