CMA CGM Alexander von Humboldt: Jens & Cornelia: I think that you should send lots of thanks to the French container line. They do know how to treat great names :-)

Thanks for your comments :-) I think, its a nice name for an ugly ship, that is keeping the shipping way on river Elbe open :-) Another one (I think same type) is called James Cook, and I think, it does fit quite well because wherever the ships go - very often, the dredgers been there before already.

Well Jens, you did discover that your feet get cold when photographing ships!
I read a lot of Alexander Von Humbolt's books when in school. Fascinating - he was far advanced for his time.
After the world's most beautiful new bulker is named "Cornelia", the next one should be named Alexander Von Humboldt! A dredger is a bit lowly for such a man.

Peter, I have the impression that your comment is suggesting that so far I haven't discovered anything of importance... well, you're right!:-))

Interesting info, by the way... and I forgot to say that it's a nice photo, Cornelia!

Niels, she got the prefix Alexander von Hum when I objected to the name they originally planned to give her...;-)

Cornelia,
.. interesting shots of this work horse. However, I don't see any reason why this humble ship was given such a great name?? Of course you could say that it is exploring the sea bed!!.
