Description:

Tilbury, downriver, 21/2/81.
734 gt, built 1963.

German-owned at the time this photo was taken, this small tanker was sold later in 1981 to Pura Foods of the U.K. to transport edible oils from the continent to their factory at Canning Town, Bow Creek. Renamed DORIS I and transferred to Panamanian flag, she was fully managed by F.T. Everard & Sons Ltd. She gained legendary status with Everards, suffering various machinery troubles and breakdowns which occurred with alarming regularity :-?

I think Pura eventually threw in the towel with her and she was laid up, but I'm not sure what happened to her after that.
