I acquired the bell and oil lamp from this vessel prior to her being scrapped.

She was on Muller's Rotterdam - London / Casablanca and Agadir (with inducement) run. The sistership ship was the "VRIJBURGH" and both carried four or five passengers. Always loaded at The Jetty, Free Trade Wharf , Shadwell. One of her more interesting cargoes was baskets of live Tortoise...until they were banned. Very smart and clean ships . The service was actually operated by three vessels with the third being the long term time-chartererd "FES" which was smaller , again Dutch flag.

With her sistership the "Vrijburgh" she ran on the Batavier Lijn from Rotterdam and London to Casablanca and sometimes Agadir. In London she and her sister loaded and discharged at Free Trade Wharf, Shadwell. Mullers also had on period charter for many years a small Dutch flag ship named the "FES" . Smart little thing. The two Muller ships also carried passengers, six from memory and they were always fully booked. One of their seasonal cargoes to Free Trade Wharf was baskets of Tortoise :-D

Great photo Ken,

She was a regular caller at Parkeston Quay in the early 70's. Running containers to Rotterdam in the colours of Zeeland Shipping. By this time she had lost her masts and the bridge had been moved back to the after accomodation. Her running mates were the Colchester and the Isle of Ely (B.R.).
I have only a very poor alongside B&W of her unfortunately.

regards
Derek
