There's one and one reason only for her being scrapped, asbestos. They did a survey of her a couple of years ago and the number of free fibres were very high in several compartments an she was taken out of use immediately. It proved too costly to fix so she was doomed.

Btw, the RSwN AGI HMS Orion is built on the same hull.
