Hello Victor (VCsail), I understand your "message" and it's nice to read it !
However, it's a great pity that you haven't anymore with you the photos that you had shot of MARY and MICHALAKIS ,, it would be very nice to see the series of photos of these two 'distinctive & beautiful classic' bulkers on this website ..... c'est la vie !!!
Therefore Victor, one more image for your memories on Phocean/Navegadora Transpacifica:

Yes I'm fond if those memories thanks only to the people that served on these ships. Which is in return a reflection on the owners. It has been a long time ago "81-83". From what I heard Mary had a new bottom as it was stuck on a reef somewhere in the Baltic. These were only hear says. I don't think I have any of the photos taken on board in my possession any more.
Keep up the great work that you're doing
Regards, Victor

Many thanks VCsail,, it's really great that this photo had brought to you good memories !

At one occasion, in the year 1993, were simultaneously attending at VLS for drydocking & repairs 3 (three) sisters: Miss Marietta, Mary and Master Petros.
Today is at Rijeka on the anchorage m/v Michalakis (but the newly acquired Michalakis owned by the son of late Madam Eustathiou who was owner of the shipping companies Phocean/Navegadora Transpacifica).

VLS stands for shipyard Viktor Lenac, Rijeka, Croatia :-)

Very best regards from Rijeka,
Jadran

PS
I also have a photo of m/v Mary at VLS,, I will post it in due time !

Great! I served on her two sisterships, Mary and Michalakis.
Jadran, where and what is VLS? I'm assuming it's a shipyard.
At one time we had Marietta, Mary and Michalakis anchored in the port of Bilbao. That should have been a great photo op!

Yes Gianpaolo, MISS MARIETTA had a long life indeed !!,, she was being the top favourite ship of the shipowner late Madam Efstathiou and was the last scrapped of the 4 sisters ... although she was the first one built in that series.

Thank you for your kind & interesting comment Gianpaolo !
Remaining with very best regards /Jadran

This is what makes an interesting post!
A photo of a 'rare' ship, super content in the background, an authentic story surrounding it, bound up in a little piece of nautical history.
Bravo Jadran.

Thank you very much for your nice comment vjakas1 & I completely agree with You.
Already during the 90s, Miss Marietta was really a very classic looking bulker,, I would say ... one of the last classics maybe.

Madam Efstathiou ( having become the last remaining *traditional Greek shipowner* ) built during 60s & 70s all her 8 ships (4 sisters type Miss Marietta plus other 4 sisters type Minos) at Siag Nordseewerke – Emden, Germany & her satisfaction with these ships was utter great and everlasting to her last day.
Kind regards /Jadran

Thanks for posting! The last one was classic looking, very impresive. I saw her leaving Ploče near Pločica. It was summer 1993. Pozdrav, Vjeko.

Yes, you are perfectly right Edson de Lima,, that is STAR OF VENICE !

She was at that time owned by STARGAS - Venice, Italy; a specialized shipping company for transport of LPG; they had a bigger fleet of smaller size LPG tankers & much-much later additionally purchased the subject passenger ship.
At VLS they converted the passenger ship into a luxury cruise ship & named it Star of Venice, and after a longer period of time spent later upon her conversion completion, Star Of Venice started cruises from Italy to Greece.
After about 1 year time of successful cruising her main boiler exploded (she was a turbine powered ship).
That was the end of this ship's commercial use & career under Stargas.
Kind regards /Jadran

I am surprise with the fact that none person comments about the histocal passenger ship in the background as the STAR OF VENICE originally the norwegian LEDA of Bergen Line.

Of the total 17 drydocking & repair projects I mentioned in my below comment, MISS MARIETTA was the first ship owned by Phocean to arrive to VLS.
Immediately followed 3 other ships of Phocean (Mary, Master Petros & Minos).
At one moment, during August month 1993, there were simultaneously 4 ships of Phocean at VLS.

Thank you for your nice comment Mark T. & best regards /Jadran

This photo will be tomorrow missing exactly 1 month to be exactly 20 years old.
At that time, when I captured this photo, I was of age 43 (born 22.08.1950) and was with VLS for 18 years (started work on 04.08.1975).
EVERYTHING IN AUGUST !

Thank you for the compliments, rivanj !

Thank you Acrop, much appreciated !

I know Stelios Efstathiou very well, due to have met him personally in the offices of Navegadora at Piraeus.
I had accomplished at VLS as Contract Manager a total of 17 drydocking & repair projects for PHOCEAN while his late mother Madam Efstathiou was owning & running the Company.
