Description:
Built ca. 1962 in Japan for the then Iraqi Lines. She was a new build and my dad was with the crew that took the delivery. Her maiden name was KASSIM and while still on sea trials in Japan a military coup in Iraq toppled the then Kassim regime. The ship's captain hastily ordered a name change to 14 RAMADHAN. The picture shown highlights the new name while the then fashionable mid-ships insignia IRAQI LINES was yet to be painted. Dad served on her until 1966 as bosun.
