What is today known as A.P.Moller-Maersk actually began 16 April 1904 when Arnold Peter Møller (Father of MMM) founded the Steamship Company Svendborg. First ship was SS SVENDBORG, built by John Crown, Sunderland (#106), 1902, as ADA. Sold to APM October 1904. For more info about the history of APM-M see "Timeline" on www.maerskfleet.com

A lot of thanks, Bjorn, I think that this is really a precious information for all "Maerskfans", to know his interesting history. Then more shots of old Maersk cargos! ;o)

Where it all began. In 1886, Captain Peter Mærsk-Møller bought his first steamship, the British-built S.S. Laura.

I'd like very much to see the first ship which Maersk began his activity and grounded his until today's commercial fleet and financial empire...
