As "Geroro", she was detained at Halifax, N.S. Canada from 27/7/1990-05/8/1990. The ship had loaded a previous cargo of potash in the cargo hold, without burlap being placed over the bilge suctions. The potash had filled the bilge wells and pipes, so that ballast could not be discharged. There were several other deficiencies. The crew walked off and took up residence in the Mission to Seamen. Eventually, the bilge pipes were blasted clean with high-pressure water jets, and the ship was able to discharge her ballast and begin loading a cargo of oil-drilling equipment for Mongstad, Norway.
