@Lappino
and with what peoples you want to "touch-up" a damaged deck ? if you have 5-7 ranks on deck, and 3 of them are duty based,,then imagine to keep up a ship like that paintwise,, virtually no possible
@Spotti
Maersk has a perfect name in Europe/US but as you can see also not so good ships running around. They perfectly manage the perception that they maintain a perfect record and only perfect ships, hence a very good public relations department. Just look at the Triple-E perception,, seems like that,s the only ships Maersk has.

I'd say a significant part of the problem is the lack of maintenance of deck. Deck coating is routinely damaged during cargo operations, and should be repaired ASAP. If not, the rust from deck starts seeping onto the sides, and we can see the result...

Maersk image.. I wonder what it is ? "We do earn our money not with the paint on the ships" ?

I heard recently that Maersk were pushing for the 5 yearly class drydockings (and thus repaintings) to be extended to 7 1/2 years. For commercial reasons of course, but it won't do the longevity of the ships concerned any favours.
Back in the bad old days ships were drydocked and fully repainted every year.

Vlad, any guesses about what went wrong with the paintjob of 2009? The photos show that already in 2011 the paint was leaving the ship. @ Captain Ted: please inform us exactly how big Maersk's PR department is!
Anyway, thanks for sharing the photo, Franela

During her last Class renewal in 2009 she was given a complete makeover, with a "yacht-like" paint job. Seeing her present condition fills me with sadness...or, like the Klingons say "Sic transit gloria mundi"...:)

Good, dramatic photo, though. Thanks for sharing!

Her present class runs until 20th of March 2014 and in the moment she's obviously not in service. I wouln't make a bet she's still underway next year.

I fear she is not long for this world.

This ship is a shame for the Maersk image. Give her a new paintjob and quickly.
