Description:

20/07/1980, Lyme Bay, Devon, England.

I took this photo from the starboard bridge wing of the Onoba, while undergoing lightening operations to the Shell tanker, 'Halia', on which I was serving.

Launched on 17/11/1961 and completed during June 1962 by Rotterdamsche Droogdok Maatschappij, Rotterdam, Netherlands (299)
31,540 g.t. & 53,44 dwt., as :-
'Onoba' and always under this name.
She arrived at Yantai, China on 10/06/195 for demolition.

It was deja vu when I came across the photo of the Onoba being lightened by the Halia in Lyme Bay in July 1980. I was R/O on the Halia in 1970-71 and Onaba was the last lightening we did just days before I paid off in April 1971. I recall she was French Shell and there wasn't as much banter over the rails as usual.
