Gdańsk Shipyard produced first Polish built general cargo ships, basing on design by Ansaldo, Genoa (two vessels were completed with some delay in Gdynia).
Named after rivers, they were delivered to freshly organized Polish Steamship Company and dedicated for West European and Scandinavian service.
This first batch of five vessels, original type B-51, had wooden wheelhouse:

B51/I/1 (building started as B51/4 as "Nyssa") NYSA, Gdańsk Shipyard, 1951;
The ship sunk in storm, 10.01.1965, off Norwegian coast.

B51/I/2 (building started as B51/5) SAN, IMO 5309346, Gdańsk Shipyard, 1951;
