Australian

1935 Built by Stephen & Sons Ltd of Linthouse. Glasgow for Tasmanian Steamers a joint company owned by Union S.S.Co and Huddart Parker Ltd and was 4286 GRT.
She was on the Launceston - Melbourne run.
During WW11 she was used as a fast troop transporter and carried over 93,000 troops in a four year period.

Owner: Tasmanian Steamers Pty Ltd, Melbourne.

Builder: Alexander Stephen & Sons, Linthouse, Glasgow.

1959 Sold to Typaldos Bros Steam Ship Co of Piraeus. Greece and renamed Hellas.

1963 Registration of Ownership was transferred to Aegean Steam Navigation who were also owned by Typaldos Bros Ltd of Piraeus.

1967 Laid up at Kynossoura and later near Elefsina Piraeus Greece.

1970 Typaldos Bros Ltd collapsed and the vessel was eventually sold by the National Bank of Greece who were the creditors to Nigdelier Hurdacilik Makina Ticaret SA Turkey.

1989 23rd May arrived at Aliaga under tow for demolition.

Something amiss there, her IMO number was in fact 5147011.
This was such a handsome little liner and I still hope that someone will post a colour photo of her as Hellas.
