Wonderful shot Rafael! Captain Ted, you are right, and it reminds me of having to check & clean the strum boxes (sea chest filters) every few hours, when going up the Chao Phraya river to Bangkok. Every type of fresh, & stinking rotten, organic matter, plus man made plastics would block them up. Yeuk.

I have a 10,000 litre pond in my garden and one summer I put a dozen water hyacinth into it. I could not believe how they multiplied over the season. The winter cold killed them off and I didn't bother again.

It looks like water hyacinth, also a big problem in SE Asia, blocking the cooling water inlets.

the prop is not really the problem,,more the blocking of the sea chests when the prop draws the green down and the sea chest getting blocked by it and then the cooling water to the engines getting cut off.

Interesting shot with all that floating greenery. What are those? Won't it entangle around the prop?
