As you say,no chance of getting in the Dock now,unlike the'good old days'.However there have been some decent sized ships on the River berth and if you are lucky one can get a shot at the Dock from across the river,perhaps not up to shipspotting standard of a 'whole ship' but good enough for personal use!.AIS can give enough time for a quick dash to

Many thanks for these shots from Boston.
I guess access to the dock is restricted nowadays so its just catching them on the river berths and under way.
I have been there just the once and there were no ships on the river!
