A video of the full scale ice trials, which includes testing of the oblique mode for the first time, has been published by Aker Arctic:

You're welcome.

I guess we have to wait for the real ice trials until next winter.

Thanks a lot Tuomas, very interesting! Woudl be very instructive to see that kind of oblique icebreaker in action.
Very best regards and thanks a lot one more time,

Hi Robert

An "oblique icebreaker" is an icebreaking vessel with an asymmetric hull form. Such vessel can break ice not only bow-first and stern-first, but also "sideways" with a large angle of attack. In this way, a relatively small vessel (in this case, about 20 m wide) can open a wide passage (50 m) in the ice field.

I've written couple of articles to Wikipedia about this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oblique_icebreaker
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltika_%28icebreaker%29

Feel free to ask if you have further questions.
