Hi Jadran and Dave, thank you for the additional info..all that is needed is a native Philadelhpian to help us confirm the location, it would seem.

Hi Jadran and Rick,
Certainly I did sail up to Philadelphia right up to 1977 so believe this is where it was taken. Tried google maps on the area but so much would have changed over the years but with only 2 places still having river fronts and finger quays then the area would be between the Walt Whitman and Benjamin Franklyn bridges. On later voyages on the ACT containerships we docked at the container terminal just down river from the Walt Whitman Bridge. Interesting that google maps show the United States in one of the finger quays.

Hi Rick,, when I was sailing onboard ships in 1967 and respectively 1968 to USA,, and the ships were moored always along the same one quay at Philadelphia,, I recall in the corner of my memories that the harbour entire scenery with the background equally looked like that seen on this picture !
Maybe I'm mistaken or maybe not ..... however,
I'm remaining with best regards
Jadran

I guess you have already noted the USA courtesy flag Dave? I don't think the Egyptian National Line ran to the Pacific side, so, just a guess, but taking into account the major harbour infrastructure & the iconic looking, circa 1900's built port building in the background, somewhere on the NE coast NY, Boston, Philadelphia or thereabouts.
Regards, Rick
