Dear Gentlemen! Many thanks for all information.I'm superintendent and I will try coating propellers on one vessel during DD and another one vessel propellers on DD still uncoating. In that case we can compares consamption of fuel and speed.

Good sales pitch jadran :-) Underwater hull coating is a never ending and quite interesting issue, cost vs fuel consumption. Jotun offers guarantee that fuel savings will be so and so many %, and if no recuction in fuel is observed they(Jotun) will cover the difference. However(of course), this requires a strict set of parameters to be installed and followed, which will also cost money. But again, very interesting subject :-)

......... however,, the cost of silicone based paint + surface preparation for coating + necessary environment protection during application are quite significant & rather costly !!!

You are welcome Mr. Gusev (if it's not discretion: are you Owner, Technical Manager or Superintendent of the shipping company ? ).
For your additional information,, you can also apply the SILICONE BASED COATING (you can use the products Intersleek 700 or 900) onto the entire UNDERWATER hull surface of the ship !!! ..... great result & big savings in ship's service !
Kind regards
Jadran

Had this coating on "my" company ships starting back in the 90's. It requires very fine gritblasting and polishing before two coats of primer and then the silicone based paint. It(the paint) tends to crack up at the edges of the propeller blades after some time as this paint is "not so good" on higher speeds. But of course this can vary from ship type to ship type. Some company's just polish the propeller twice a year and get same result/savings. New technologies for polishing now is more "eco-friendly" and ports many places start to accept such polishing taking place. :-)

Hi,Mr.Jadran. Thank you for information.Founded Intersleek on Interanitonal web-site. I'll order this paint for our vessels.

The propeller is purposely coated with the special type silicone based INTERSLEEK paint to obtain the propeller blades surfaces smooth 'as a mirror' and consequently decrease the negative water resistance effect on the propeller blades surfaces >> higher speed less fuel oil consumption for the ship !! :-) :-)

Hi,Mr.Tuomas. May be special anti-cavitaion paint?

Perhaps someone just told them to paint the underside of the hull without specifying what NOT to paint. Reminds me of something I heard once: "When I told you to paint the windows, I was talking about the frames..."
