I do recall seeing a recent report that she has been sold for scrap - unable to recall immediately where this was.

Hello David,

Thanks for your information.
I last heard she was in a bad condition, so it must be trough. She alwasy was a very fine looking one.

I understand that she arrived in Alang for scrapping during the first half of December 2006.

I'm afraid you are right Mike.
We all hoped she could be round for a long time, but the end has come pretty quickly.
Thanks for your comment.

Greetz,

What is happening here Marie-Anne, is she laid up, or out of service.

Once very familier in our part of the world as the Australian Venture.

Hi Mike,

It was a suprise to me soo seeing her like that. So empty. It could be that she is waiting to get into the drydock. That is just around the corner. I'll keep an eye out for her moves the next couple of days.

Hi Marie-Anne,

Thanks for that.
I was portagent for her in the eighties and she was in the worst condition of all those ships. Compared to the NZP she was a wreck. She was the first to be sold and I thought it would be a quick trip to the breakers.
Instead, she is now the only survivor of that class, the others all being scrapped in 2002.
I wold be surprised to see her go through another drydocking at her age though, but with the current box boat shortage, who knows.
I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope she has a few more years yet.

Hello i agree with the last post here,i knew the ship as the aussie venture, and knew some crew when she called in lyttelton, as she was the first of the class built and the nzp the last,i think nzp should not have gone to the breakers,i did vist the msc nuria just to see the diffrence when i knew her as aussie venture alot of diffrences i found as the crew was from diffrent country, and she was falling apart sad end to a fine ship,i love the bow lines of her, cheers matt :-D
