WELCOME TO SHIPSPOTTING.COM
Description:
This is where one of the bombs penetrated the deck - just in front of the manifold on the port side.
The picture was taken by a colleague of mine in 1989 on board the "Seawise Giant" (now "Knock Nevis", ex "Jahre Viking"). We were both working for Norwegian shipmanagers Norman International, which managed the company that bought the burnt-out wreck after she had been bombed by the Iraqis during the Iran-Iraq war. The pictures were taken during a pre-purchase inspection in Brunei Bay, where she was laid up.
Former name(s):
- Knock Nevis (Until 2009 Dec)
- Jahre Viking (Until 2004 Aug)
- Happy Giant (Until 1991 Jan)
- Seawise Giant (Until 1989 Dec)
