I made a Caribbean cruise on her as the Hanseatic in March, 1973 from Port Everglades. shortly after she was sold to Home Lines. I was amazed, knowing nothing of how her engines worked,to see the tar or sludge used as fuel being heated in order to get it to the furnaces to heat the boilers.
