Great picture William of a very pretty class of all aft product carriers built for the Lowland Tanker Company, founded jointly in 1951 by The British Tanker Co.(BP)50%, Matheson & Co. (Hong Kong)25% & Common Bros. Ltd. 25%. The fleet was managed by Common Bros. until 1976 when BP took over the management and BP bought out the shares of it's 2 partners in 1979. She was built by the Smiths Dock Co. Ltd. of Middlesbrough, Yard No. 1264,and completed 18.1.1962. 19,393 DWT, LOA 569'2" powered by a 6 Cylinder 2 stroke Doxford type oil engine developing 8,000 bhp and geared to a single shaft. She reverted to BP ownership in 1979 who promptly sold her to Cosentino Shipping Co. SA, (A Halcoussis & Co. Managers),Greece.She was renamed ACHILLET. 1987 Sold to Spiro Shipping Co.Ltd.(Grecale Inc. Greece Managers)Malta, and renamed SPIRO. 27.9.88 arrived Chittagong for demolition by Khalil & Sons. Work commenced on 29.9.1988. "6 years was a pretty good age for a tanker, she did well.
