USS EDSON (DD-946) - Forrest Sherman-class destroyer - 3 August 2012 - Photographed while she was being towed upbound in the Welland Canal north of lock 2 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada destined for Bay City, Michigan.. Original photos by Jeff Cameron..

USS EDSON was commissioned into the United States Navy on 7 November 1958 and ended up serving the majority of her career in the Pacific theatre of operation.. She was decommissioned on 15 December 1988 and towed to Philadelphia where she was placed in long tern storage.. From 30 June 1989 until 14 June 2004 she served as a museum ship at the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum in New York City. Later in 2004 she was towed to the Brooklyn Navy yard where hull repairs were affected prior to her return to the Philadelphia Inactive Ships Maintenance Facility.. In 2012 she was transferred to the Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum and cleared for the long tow to Bay City, Michigan..
