The vessel (amongst a series of sisters)was built for Capt Nikolas Papalios (Aegis Shipping, Piraeus, Greece). The company was one of the major Greek owners with a huge fleet of n/b SD-14's, bulk carriers. The company went out of business in early '90s but the family is still involved in owning with Primal Shipmanagement, Piraeus, Greece and headed by George Papalios, grand son of Capt Nikolas Papalios.
